DTF transfers,
printed to register.

Direct-to-Film transfers run on calibrated CMYK with a solid white underbase — vivid on any fabric, dark or light. No screens, no minimums, no setup fees. One piece or a thousand.

THE PROCESS

What a DTF transfer actually is

A full-colour print on clear film with its own adhesive layer — heat-pressed onto fabric in seconds. Here's the run, start to finish.

01

Printed onto PET film

Your artwork prints in reverse onto clear transfer film — full CMYK with a solid white ink layer laid down underneath so colour stays true on black garments.

02

Adhesive powder, cured

Hot-melt polyurethane powder is applied over the wet ink and cured in a heat tunnel. That's the layer that grips into the fabric weave.

03

You press it on

160°C for 10–15 seconds with a standard heat press. Peel hot or cold. Bonds to cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, even leather.

04

Locked in for 50+ washes

The print sits inside the fibres, not on top — so it stretches and washes without cracking when pressed to spec.

QUESTIONS

DTF transfer FAQs

The things print buyers ask us most. Still unsure? Send your file with your question and we'll answer it straight.

Q1What is a DTF transfer?
A DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfer is a full-colour design printed onto clear film with a hot-melt adhesive layer. You heat-press it onto fabric, where it bonds into the fibres for a durable, stretchable print that survives 50+ washes. No screens, no minimums, and it works on almost any material.
Q2How much do DTF transfers cost?
Single die-cut transfers start from £3, and gang sheets (multiple designs packed onto one A3 or A2 sheet) start from £12. Full rolls are priced on quote. There's no minimum order and no setup or artwork fee — you only pay for what you print.
Q3Is there a minimum order?
No. Order a single transfer or a thousand — the print quality and turnaround are identical. You're never charged a setup fee for short runs, which makes us a good fit for sampling new artwork before a bigger run.
Q4Do you offer same-day DTF transfers in London?
Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours from artwork approval. Same-day production is available on urgent jobs — tell us your deadline when you request a quote and we'll tell you honestly what we can do. Local customers can collect from our North London (N7) studio.
Q5What file format do you need for DTF printing?
A PNG at 300 DPI with a transparent background gives the best result. Send us your file and we'll check resolution, transparency and bleed for free before anything goes to the printer — no wasted film.
Q6What fabrics can DTF transfers go on?
DTF bonds to cotton, polyester, blends, nylon and even leather. The white underbase keeps colours vivid on dark and light garments alike. Press at 160°C for 10–15 seconds, then peel hot or cold. Need them pressed onto garments for you? We handle that through Prime Print Co.
